John Denver is a popular musician and singer who has touched a lot of people by his lyrics. A lot of them are based on Colorado. Born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico, the singer-songwriter fell in love with Colorado and then settled in Aspen. Denver's popular songs about his adopted home state inspired many visitors to Colorado. G. Brown, curator of Colorado Music Hall of Fame stated the following: John Denver is the only performer to embody Colorado. Denver, the Hall of Fame's inaugural inductee was recognized by the honor in 2011. Denver is a symbol of the state for all people. Through my many travels, I've encountered many people who are not from Colorado. People will say, "Oh John Denver!" when they hear that you are from Colorado. Brown declared. Take Me Home Country Roads, co-written by Bill Danoff and Denver after his brief career with folk bands, was Denver's debut Top 10 solo hit. Danoff was credited with Johnny Cash as the inspiration for the tune, however Denver realized that it could become a smash hit when he heard an earlier version. The singer recorded the song within a couple of days following a performance to an enthusiastic audience on the streets of Washington D.C.
