Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig November 21, 1983) is an American actress who is best recognized for her performances as Shannon Rutherford on the ABC TV series Lost and Kim Mills in the Taken trilogy. Born in Worthington Ohio she dropped out of high school to move into Los Angeles with her mother after her parents divorce. Her first role came to her, as Rachel's Room's lead character in 2001, despite having a difficult time with finances. In the following year, she was awarded a Young Artist Award nomination in 2002 with her portrayal of fifteen-year-old victim Martha Moxley in the television film Murder set in Greenwich. In 2004, Grace was cast as Shannon Rutherford in the television show Lost where she was the main cast member for the first two seasons, and was awarded an Screen Actors Guild Award shared with the ensemble cast. Grace decided to concentrate on film after starring opposite Tom Welling's character in The Fog, in 2005. She starred as Kim Mills opposite Liam Neeson (both in Taken in 2008) on Suburban Girl as well as the Jane Austen Book Club. Her role was reprised in Taken 2 (2011) and Taken 3 (2013).She also played Alice in Malice in Wonderland, a modern adaptation to the Lewis Carroll novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace played the role of Shannon in two more episodes of Lost including the series finale. Grace appeared in Californication's 6th season that aired from 2013 to the year 2014. The character she plays is Faith as the muse and fan of the actors. Hank Moody as played by David Duchovny falls in love with her. She's a Gyllenhaal. daughter of Stephen Gyllenhaal (director) and Naomi Achs (producer), and is younger in age than Jake Gyllenhaal. In her teens She began working on small roles with her father. She also appeared in Donnie Darko along with her twin brother. In 2002, she was featured as a character in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. She also appeared in Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal was praised by critics for her performance in the erotic romantic comedy Secretary (2002) as well as the dramatic Sherrybaby (2006) both of which earned her an Golden Globe Award nomination. Following a string of commercially successful movies in 2006, including World Trade Center she received more attention for her role as Rachel Dawes in the superhero film The Dark Knight (2008). Following her acclaimed performance as a mother who is not married on the screen in Crazy Heart (2009), she earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Her subsequent roles include Nanny McPhee, The Big Bang and Hysteria. In addition to her role as an agent of the Secret Service agent, she was also seen in White House Down (2013) as well as Frank (2014). One of her most recent roles were her character as the primary protagonist The Kindergarten Teacher The Kindergarten Teacher (2018). The debut of Gyllenhaal as a filmmaker and writer was in 2021 with The Lost Daughter, a psycho-drama for which she received the Venice International Film Festival Best Screenplay Award. The film also received the Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay.
